100 Days (And Happy Easter)

On Zoe's 100 day anniversary we had some special pictures taken. Its a tradition in Japan to take special photos at the 100 day mark. The reason is in the "olden days" the infant mortality rate was very high, so if your child made it to the 100 day mark chances were they would make it. Thats kind of sad and depressing so I like to think it was when they were ripe enough to eat.
We started with this fairy outfit and Zoe was pretty happy and went along with it very well. All the seats she is sitting in are special seats with straps underneath her clothing so she can't lean forward and fall off.
Next we went with what we later found out to be the typical girls day photo. In Japan there is a Girls day (March 3rd) and a boys day (May 5th). Not too sure on the specifics but we know they exist. This is Empress Zoe addressing her kingdom.

Finally, Samurai Zoe. I decided that since we are in Japan we need to have a picture with a samurai sword. The people taking the pictures looked at me a little funny but did it for us. Apparently this is the typical boys day photo and isn't really meant for girls, but hey we needed a sword photo and we got one. This is also about the time that Zoe decided she was done with the picture taking so there were no smiles to be had. I tried to get them to take a picture of her crying, a war face, but those ended up with the most pathetic sad pouty face cries unfit for a true warrior. So we just went with the somber Samurai.
