New Year New Island

Well our time in Guam is winding down. In the next two months we will be moving to Okinawa Japan. We have already started getting ready for the move, hopefully it will be much smoother and easier with both of us moving to the same place at the same time.

Happy New Year.

Christmas Day

We were trying to think about what we could do on Christmas, and of course what we did is what most people can't do on Christmas, snorkel.

The water was actually the coldest I think either of us have ever felt on Guam, so that means it was about 76 degrees.

We thought this guy looked like ET under the water....
This is the view of the center of the island on the way to our Christmas dinner.

We went to Jeff's Pirates Cove for Lamb Gyros.

In case you wondering how the rest of our house looks, or what Christine did with those 1000 bulbs she bought and mailed to us, guess no more..

It truly was a winter wonderland inside our home.

Merry Christmas 2007

Merry Christmas. Here is how our island decorates for the holiday.
These are all from Skinner Plaza, which is somewhat near the middle of the island. It is right across the street from Chamorro Village, as if that helps you place it at all.
Of course the theme for everything is Christmas in the pacific, so you have to have light up palm trees.

I thought it was unique that this building did the shape of the cross in their window. They are across the street from the Agana Cathedral, where the Pope visited and conducted mass in the 80's.
This is the cathedral from the plaza across the street.Speaking of the Pope, here he is. Life size statue in the middle of the street. We were told this is the exact spot he gave mass in.

And of course Reindeer don't guide any sleighs here, its all caribou.
Here is the Christmas cake Christine made, its actually the 2nd one of these but we didn't get pictures of the first.
And here is our little Christmas shrine, can you decipher what it is?
Thats right, animatronic reindeer in our living room! What every Christmas shrine needs.
I just mopped the floors earlier that day, thats why they look so good. And just to remind you, its Christmas morning, 86 degrees outside, 74 inside. Merry Christmas.

St. Louis

These are a few pictures I took walking around downtown St. Louis.

This isn't the St. Louis Cathedral but it was a pretty impressive church nonetheless.

This is the view of the arch from the old court house across the street.

This is the pod like elevator you have to take up to the top of the arch. It seats five uncomfortably and you get to the top in about four and a half minutes, and to get down it only takes 3 minutes. And this is fairly abstract but those white flecks are snow. This is the first time I had seen snow fall from the sky, it was alarming, and cold. It was in the 20's the entire time I was there. A day after I left a snowstorm hit and shut everything down.

San Jose CA

I only took a handful of pictures while in San Jose in October and this is really the only one worth posting. These are not the mailboxes you were looking for... From the geek capitol of California.
