Thats right its a manual push mower. It took a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did I think it does just as good a job as any other mower. My arms are about to fall off now, but I figure I'll get used to it.
Oh and the 2nd picture is what happens when your out in the sun too long with your push mower.
Oh and Christine said I butchered the bushes in the front. I told her I'll let them grow till she gets here then she can shape them however she wants.

Heres the little history picture I found online:

A late 19th century reel mower.

I used one of those when I was 12. I had to earn money for Christmas. November and December are the best months to earn money cutting grass as the grass is usually dormant. I'm no dummy right? I am very sorry but I think that where you are it will never be dormant. DO YOU HAVE A BIG YARD? If you decide to make extra money doing lawns in your spare time BE SURE AND PICK YARDS THAT ARE REALLY SMALL. (This is my best advice for today) I didn't see a picture of the bushes. Did you send pictures of the botched bushes to Christine? (If so, that was not smart.)They aren't the plants that Christine spent days and days on her knees planting are they? You know the ones that she was planting when the Bee or Wasp came and bit her and put her in intollerable pain? If they are, YOU ARE IN REAL TROUBLE!!!!!
I went a little further looking at the pictures and WOW!!!!! You really did spend much too much time on the bushes. I'll send you a picture of how a BUSH should look so next time you will know. I forgot that here in California you never got any experience in Gardening.
WOW!!!!!!! You and Christine bought your very very first ANTIQUE!. I am very proud of you. Remember when we used to hit all of the Thrift shops and look for good stuff? Remember looking through all of that stuff and finding an autographed Beatle Album? Well now you really hit the jackpot. People just don't let this kind of thing that you bought go. They keep it in their Garages forever until they go to Heaven. Maybe you bought someones Inheritance? Are you going to let Christine use it too? Keep up the good work. And keep anything sharp away from those two terribly skinny bushes.
I have to say Adam that you even have plenty of room in your little tiny Garage with the Giant Truck in it for this piece of absolute wonder. Do you see that special corner to put it in on the Picture? Remember what I always taught you. That if you put something in the same place all the time you will not lose it or forget where you put it. You are soooooooooooooooo smart to pick this up. You can't go anywhere in California and find one. We are all too laid back here to use anything that we had to manually push. You are so lucky to have found this wonderful Antique. And just think you don't even have to wait for your furniture to arrive to receive it. Does your house echo?
